Music Groups

 

Junior Choir Practice

This group ranging from age 5 to 15 meets every Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. following regular worship.  They practice in the sanctuary under the direction of Valerie MacBeath accompanied by Sharon Cameron.  New members are always welcome!

 

The Park Royal Choir Practice

This group meets for practice every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. They share their gift of music with the congregation during regular worship and on other special occasions throughout the year.  New members are always welcome.  If you like to sing and feel you might be interested in sharing your talent with this group, just drop in for practice any Thursday at 7:00 p.m. or contact the Director of Music, Valerie MacKenzie.

 

Among Friends

A group of  women who meet for fun, fellowship and the joy of singing,  meets in the Parlor or Foyer for practice each Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.  If you have an interest in singing, you should check this group out.  New members are always welcome.

 

Step by Step

Is Park Royal's band.  They play contemporary Christian music including many original arrangements composed by different members of the group.   They have been invited to play at churches and other events on PEI, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and have become an integral part of Park Royal's music ministry.

  

Singing Strings:   

This is a group of young musicians, under the direction of John and Jen Clement, who meet for instruction and practice at various times throughout the week in the Sanctuary.

 

 

Children's Programs

                                                    

 

Sunday School for all ages 3 and up is offered during the worship time on Sunday mornings from September to June.   A nursery is available and supervised crib care is offered for the convenience of young parents and guardians.

 

Kids Connection is a before and after school program offered between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  They offer a full range of programming both during the school year and during the summer holiday season.  For information contact Cynthia Bradley or the church office.

 

The Parkdale Sherwood Headstart Program:

This is a non profit licensed inclusive childcare center that offers year round part time and full time preschool and kindergarten programs for children aged three to school aged.  Headstart is a registered charity dedicated to supporting and strengthening family life and the well being of young children by providing developmentally appropriate child care services in a caring, safe, interesting environment.  Headstart operates between   7:30 a.m. and   5:30 p.m.  Monday to Friday - Contact number 892-5916.

 

 

Fitness Programs

 

Morning Fitness Program:

This program is sponsored by the City of Charlottetown.  It meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the gym.

 

Evening Step Program:

Also sponsored by the City, this   program meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the gym. If you are interest in a good aerobic exercise program, this is the program for you.

  

 

Other Groups

 

 Al-anon meetings are held on Thursday evenings commencing at 8:00 p.m.

 

 

Park Royal Groups

 

 

The Park Royal Prayer Group meets in the Board Room on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 9:30 a.m.  They gather for a time of prayer on behalf of concerns, issues and needs of members of the congregation, community and world.

 

The Women's Fellowship Group is comprised of women interested in fun, friends, fellowship and community service.  They meet on the 3rd Monday at members home where they enjoy a variety of activities and plan projects they feel could contribute to the ongoing work of   Christian outreach.

 

The Men's Fellowship Group: 

This group meets every Tuesday morning for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. They enjoy a time of fellowship, discussion and singing during a light breakfast.  They support several projects throughout the year and provide a musical ministry to the senior's homes and nursing homes around Charlottetown.  If you are a morning person, you will enjoy this group.

                                       

United Church Women

The UCW General meeting is held on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the parlor.  UCW Unit meetings are held at various times and places.  For details on these meetings please contact the church office.

 

The Official Board - meets four times a year in the church parlor at 7:00 p.m. in:  Oct., Dec., Feb., & Apr. 

 

The Session - Board of session meets five times a year in the parlor at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of Sept., Nov., Mar., & May.

 

Christian Development Committee meets at 7:00 p.m. on the same night as Session unless otherwise advised.  This is a sub-committee of Session. It is responsible for the oversight of the congregations Christian development program.

 

Worship Committee meets at 7:00 p.m. on the same night as Session.  This committee of Session is responsible for the review of the order of public worship and oversight of regular and special worship services.
 

Membership and Visitation Committee meets at 7:00 p.m. on the same night as Session unless otherwise advised.  This committee of Session is responsible for the maintenance of the roll of the church membership and the oversight of planned congregational visitations.

 

Communion Committee meets at 7:00 p.m. on the same night as Session.  This is the committee of Session that is responsible for the maintenance, preparation, clean-up and the serving of the Sacrament of Holy Communion. 

 

Committee of Stewards meets regularly on the third Wednesday of each month except October, December, February and April, at which time they meet on the same night as the Official Board.  This board is responsible for the administration of the financial matters of the Church and also accountable to the Official Board.  

 

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated during worship on: World Wide Communion Sunday (1st Sunday of October), Dec. Feb.  Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunday, (at the early service 7:00 a.m. and at the 10:30 a.m. service.) & June.

                                                    

The Sacrament of Baptism is offered as requested to accommodate the family if at all possible.
